Ocean World Adventure Park - Puerto Plata

Colonial Tour and Travel invites you to enjoy Ocean World Adventure Park is an entertainment complex located on the North Shore of the Dominican Republic in Cofresi, just three miles west of Puerto Plata, Ocean World Marina and Casino are the newest additions to the complex that also includes Ocean World Adventure Park.

Ocean World Marina, now the only full-service marina located between the heavily traveled Florida/Bahamas area and the Puerto Rico/Eastern Caribbean region, is a state-of-the-art facility that has 104 wet slips that can accommodate vessels up to 250-feet. Each slip is serviced with TV, R/O potable water, electricity, internet access, 24-hour security, and telephone.  The 35-acre complex also features over 200 roofed dry rack storage slips for vessels up to 35-feet in length. The government of the Dominican Republic has officially appointed Ocean World Marina as a port of entry complete with immigration and customs facilities. Additional on-site services include weather service, laundry and showers, food/liquor delivery, car rental service, crew amenities, shops and a marina store with marine and fishing supplies. There is also a fuel dock and repair services.

Ocean World is not a standard marine park where guests simply observe the animal life. It is however a park that emphasizes the interaction between guests and marine animals through interactive programs. There are only a handful of such facilities in the world and none as all-encompassing as Ocean World.

Adjacent to the marina stands the landmark Ocean World Casino. The spectacular four-story building is an aquatic themed casino that features extraordinary mosaics of whales, dolphins, and tropical fish. Each floor offers visitors different experiences from five-star dining, live music, gaming, spectacular ocean views, cocktail lounges and featuring the tropical and exotic Bravissimo Show.

Completing the unique complex is Ocean World Adventure Park. This incredible marine park which opened in March, 2004 has already become the "must-see" attraction in the Dominican Republic. The Adventure Park features the largest man-made dolphin habitat in the world, with the largest of the dolphin pools comprised of 12 million gallons of seawater. The park offers 52-scheduled events daily, and the park's interactive animal programs are unique within the industry. Guests of Ocean World Marine Park have the opportunity to interact one-on-one with dolphins, sea lions, sharks, stingrays, exotic tropical birds, meet majestic tigers, walk through a tropical forest, enjoy the pool area, a beautiful enclosed beach area, restaurants and tropical bars.

After passing through some impressive arches, signs and a waterfall (there are an amazing total of 22 such waterfalls throughout the park), most guests are met by representatives at the Welcome Center. This large, colorful building houses a huge retail facility that specializes in marine related souvenirs. The Photo shop is also located here which enables guests to purchase photographic prints or videos of their most memorable experience of the day. To quench any hunger or thirst, a full service restaurant, snack bar and beverage bar is also located in this area.

The park has exhibits too numerous to mention but they all compliment the six main attractions at Ocean World; the sea lions, the swim reef, the dolphins, the shark & rays, the rainforest & bird aviary and the tiger pool & show.

A highlight of the Casino is the spectacular Bravissimo Show located in the theater on the third floor. Since its premiere in November 2006, Bravissimo has been heralded as the best show of its kind in the Caribbean. Twenty-six dancers take guests on an enchanted journey throughout the Caribbean by presenting their interpretive dance collection from throughout the region. The performance is enhanced with electrifying music and breathtaking costumes created in New York and the Dominican Republic exclusively for Ocean World. With show times Tuesday through Saturday night starting at 9:00 p.m., the Bravissimo Show is not to be missed!

At the top of the magnificent Casino building is the Lighthouse Lounge and Disco. With truly breathtaking ocean views, the lounge is an oasis featuring all-white leather sofas. Guests can relax enjoying the magnificent scenery in a sophisticated environment. This cocktail lounge also offers modern music. The club is open weekends until 4 a.m. featuring a live DJ and a surprise dance show.
