Boca Chica Beach, where the Dominican Bay hotel
features a beach club, is truly unique. Its waters make
up a bay of about a kilometer and a half wide.
Approximately 400 meters along, there is a reef that protrudes
from the water and is shaped like a giant half circle, extending
from one end of the beach to the other. The reef covers the
whole surface of the dyke, constituting a giant natural
saltwater pool, whose average depth is about a meter ten. The reef
acts as a natural barrier for the Caribbean Sea, so that the
waters are usually very quiet. A within the reef, the water is
clear, perpetually filtered and fed by a series of natural
underground sources. The so beautiful and different views are
due to this "swimming in the sea". You will see the dark blue
sky of the Caribbean sea beyond the reef that contrasts with the
shallow bay where the inks go from deep blue to intense
turquoise, depending on the position of the sun.
