Jarabacoa is recognized as The Endless Spring City, the
birthplace of the Dominican Republic's ecotourism industry. Situated in
the mountains of the Central Cordillera, Jarabacoa is a great place for
long horseback rides through beautiful pine trees. Although it can drop
to 45 F (7 C) in winter, Jarabacoa nearly always has a pleasant
temperature from 60 to 75 degrees F (16-22 C).
Locals call this
steady climate the "city of eternal spring," which is perfect for
growing strawberries and flowers. Jarabacoa is a populated place and is
located in La Vega, Dominican Republic with a population of 29983

However, there is much more than just relaxing to be done in
Jarabacoa. With three rivers flowing nearby, Baiguate, Jimenoa and the
Yaque del Norte, there is plenty of adventure to be found. These are
particularly popular because of their level-two rapids. Here, you can
float down in tubes, white water raft, or even rappel down vertically.
If you prefer to stay dry, people also love to go mountain
biking here. In fact, tourists are able to bike down the same path that
was used for the 2003 Pan American games that crossed through Jarabacoa.
Jarabacoa is the main gateway to the mountains of
the Central Cordillera: Pico Duarte, La Pelona and La Rusilla. They are
so tall, that they are known as the Dominican Alps. The fastest route
brings you two miles above sea level by arriving at Pico Duarte and
going through Manabao.
The road to Manabao passes by the
Jarabacoa River Club, a center that is equipped with giant pools, sports
fields and restaurants serving Creole cuisine.
On Sundays in
Jarabacoa it is tradition to attend the 9:00 a.m. Mass at the Cistercian
Monastery of Santa María de Evangelio, which is located on the highway
to Manabao.

Rafting

Canyoning This
exciting but risk-free experience begins in the
headwaters of the Jimenoa River, the main source of the
Yaque del Norte. You descend through canyons to the
Jimenoa Falls, enjoying the crystalline and cool water
in natural pools. Come along with us down the riverbed
that winds down among the virgin woods of the central
mountain chain. In the company of professional guides,
you will receive the training necessary to enjoy this
challenge to its full extent. The tour included
equipment: A wetsuit / Boots / Protector helmet /
Harness. Breakfast and lunch are included. Like
rafting, participants must know how to swim, be at least
14 years old and in perfect health and physical
condition
Waterfalls Let us
take you by horse, jeep or Quad-Runner to Baiguate and
Jimenoa, two of the main waterfalls in our country.
Your visit will include a refreshing dip, a spectacular
view, an easy walk down a path bordered by exuberant
vegetation, wild fruit and palm trees. You will see and
hear colorful and melodious birds. Don't miss the chance

Pico Duarte Duarte Peak, 3,087
meters above sea level, is the tallest point in the
Antilles. Join us for 3,4 or 5-day excursions, by foot
or by mule to the roof of the Caribbean. You will go
from the tropical forest to the pine forests of the J.
Armando Bermúdez National Park, going up paths through
thousands of ferns. You will see cotorra, papagayo or
jilguero and other exotic birds. You will cross rivers
and crystal streams, enjoying the spectacular view of
three mountains, Duarte Peak, La Pelona and La Rusilla,
all of which top out at over 3,000 meters. You will see
the source of the Yaque del Norte River and the Tetero
Valley, at an altitude of over 2,000 metros and the most
preserved forests on the island. It will be an
unforgettable adventure.
