Piergiorgio Palace Hotel Sosua

Piergiorgio Palace Hotel 4* - Sosua - Puerto Plata

Piergiorgio Palace Hotel is a charming and beautiful hotel of Sosua, Puerto Plata very famous by its gastronomic restaurant La Puntilla de Piergiorgio an authentic Italian restaurant." - Colonial Tour and Travel

Piergiorgio Palace Hotel is located in the historic, seaside resort town of Sosua, just 15 minutes from the Gregorio Luperon International Airport in Puerto Plata, at Sosua on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic.  Situated in this wonderful countryside, is the ideal place to relax, regenerate your batteries, forget every day stress and rebuild your strength for the future. The oceanfront Piergiorgio Palace Hotel **** is a Caribbean dream-vision, Cliffside, above Sosua Bay.  A dream realized by Italian fashion designer, Piergiorgio, this white clapboard inn has a wrap-around verandah adorned with ornamental gingerbread, characteristic of Sosua's glory days in the Victorian era. The front entrance replicates a gazebo and faces a dramatic marble staircase that ascends to the third-floor, Italianate penthouses with expansive sundecks.
Romantics take to the pink and white floral guest rooms, half of which have ocean view, (the rest overlook the kidney-shaped pool). The bathrooms with their Italian appliances, (bidets, too) add style. With its own brand of Italian hospitality and friendly Dominican staffers, the inn has a magnetic charisma and guests have trouble leaving, which is why three new apartments have been configured for extended stays.

Gastronomy at Piergiorgio Palace Hotel

Gourmet Specialties at Piergiorgio Palace Hotel
Atop a cliff with a steep ocean drop, you are pampered by caring waiters, as you overlook the precipice and the Atlantic waves crashing below. Acknowledged as the best-view property in the area, the vista extends from a panorama of the bay to the smoky, cloud-capped silhouette of Mt. Isabel de Torres. It's reputation as Sosua's most romantic spot, is equally as renown.  Cascades of pink bougainvillea rustle in the sea breeze. Round tables are dressed in crisp pink and white linen and by night the shade trees and colorful tropical plantings and oft-times musicians play in the bandstand and for special events, folkloric groups.

La Puntilla de Piergiorgio
Open for lunch and dinner, this gastronomic restaurant is authentically Italian, with many of the quality products imported from Italy, as is the chef! You might start with a classic beef carpaccio, move on to a homemade pasta, a fresh local fish with a Mediterranean preparation or grilled lobster. The wine steward will help you choose from the extensive, international wine list, a Chianti Reserva,  a frizzantino wine with Cantuccini biscuits.

Facilities and services at Piergiorgio Palace Hotel

At Piergiorgio Palace Hotel you can do little or nothing at all. This Victorian inn is a tranquil oasis separated from its all-inclusive neighbors. Pick out a chaise lounge at the pool and lose yourself in a good book. The Spa offers a variety of soothing and therapeutic massages,
from shiatsu to reflexology. Self-Indulge

Or you can get physical with the myriad water sports offered at Sosua Beach --snorkeling, straddling a banana boat or skiing behind a fast boat.
The town itself is delightful with a full complement of shops, Internet cafes, bars and restaurants from a Schnitzel Palace to a French bakery. Cabarete, a youthful town known in international windsurfing circles, is just ten minutes to the north. By night, its beachfront restaurants and clubs heat up to boiling!

Golfers can always be assured of a warm welcome at Piergiorgio's. An 18-hole, Robert Trent Jones designed course is less than 30 minutes away, in the Playa Dorada Resort complex. It has some of the most reasonably priced greens fees in the country.

Similarly, the gorgeous Playa Grande Golf Course is a little more than 30 minutes to the north and it is even less expensive. Described as The Pebble Beach of the Caribbean, its 10 oceanfront holes overlook soaring cliffs and an idyllic cove. The hotel is a nice place to come home to after a full day of Caribbean golf.

La Terraza Piergiorgio Palace
The newest and more casual dining experience, it has an even more remarkable view. Come for sunset aperitifs and watch the marina activity, from the riotous banana boats to the sailing yachts, with white sails against the turquoise waters.
La Terrazza boasts a wood burning oven for pizza and a barbeque. Guests watch as the chef grills a mix of marinated chicken, steak, ribs, and pork, and serves it with a secret barbecue sauce from the "old country." Also from Italy, the chef adds an authenticity to the pizza. He twirls it for onlookers as the piano man sings, ‘That's Amore…when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie."

After choosing a four-cheese pizza or a margherita, guests head for the antipasto buffet. A sweet finale is a perfect tiramisu with a steaming cappuccino. Life is good at Piergiorgio'

You should know Sosua !!
Sosua is located in the heart of the beautiful beach area on the North Coast (Atlantic Ocean) of the Dominican Republic, about 20 km east of Puerto Plata, only 5 km from the main airport of the North, Puerto Plata International and 14 km west of Cabarete.
Actually Sosua is divided into two separate villages which are separated by a bay at whose base is a sandy white beach more than half a mile long behind which are located a continuous row of small bars, restaurants and souvenir shops.

In addition to sunbathing, it is the scene of a variety of watersports such as sailing, waterskiing, jet-skiing, and just offshore a short distance there are banks of coral that are excellent for scuba diving.
Not far away to the east is another beach where the conditions are great for surfing (with just a board, without sail). Other beaches close by include Puerto Chiquito, Playa Chiquito and Playita.
To the east of the main beach lies Los Charamicós, formerly a sleepy fishing village but which has in recent years been converted into a business and residential sector for the concentration of Dominicans who have moved into the area to seek work in activities associated with the tourist industry. Most of the buildings in the centre are old and are typical of most Dominican villages, with crowded rambling streets and noisy moto-conchos running up and down the streets.
Practically all of the restaurants serve local dishes, and the ambiance is typically Dominican. In a few places excellent fish dishes are served.

It was founded in 1940 when the dictator Trujillo, seeking goodwill from the international community after having ordered the massacre of almost 20,000 Haitians in the country, offered to take in Jewish refugees from Germany who were being persecuted by the Nazis. About 600 of them immigrated, of whom only a small group eventually remained and became engaged in the dairy and smoked-meat industries.

La Puntilla de Piergiorgio
La Puntilla de Piergiorgio is open from noon to 11:00 p.m., as is La Terrazza.
